Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Splyt ("Splyt", "the App", "we", "us"), operated by Romeo Betances, based in the Dominican Republic, collects, uses, and protects your information. By using Splyt, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following, depending on how you use the App:

• Account data: an anonymous device-based identifier created automatically when you open the App, or, if you choose to sign in, your Google or Apple account information (name, email, and profile photo, as permitted by Sign in with Google / Sign in with Apple). Apple sign-in is only available on iOS.
• Profile data: the handle and avatar you set inside the App.
• Table data: tables you create or join, expenses you log (title, amount, category, and how they're split), and settle-up history.
• Chat messages: ephemeral text messages you send within a table's chat.
• Receipt photos: if you scan a receipt, the photo is processed on your device to read the text and pre-fill an expense — it is not uploaded to or stored on our servers.
• Purchase data: subscription status for Splyt Plus, processed by RevenueCat together with the App Store or Google Play — we do not receive or store your payment card details.
• Push notification token: if you enable notifications, a device token used to deliver alerts about your tables.
• Usage and diagnostic data: app usage analytics collected through Firebase Analytics and Mixpanel.

2. How we use your information

We use this information to operate core features of the App (creating tables, splitting expenses, chat, receipt scanning), to maintain your account, to send you notifications about your tables, to process subscriptions, and to improve the App through aggregated usage analytics.

3. Sharing your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information with:

• Other members of your tables: your handle, avatar, expenses, and chat messages within a table are visible to that table's members.
• Service providers: Firebase / Google Cloud (hosting, authentication, database, remote configuration, analytics, and push notifications), Mixpanel (analytics), and RevenueCat (subscription management) act as our data processors.
• Apple / Google: for Sign in with Apple, Sign in with Google, and subscription billing through the App Store or Google Play.
• Legal requirements: if required to comply with applicable law or a valid legal request.

4. Data retention

When a table is closed and settled, its expense amounts remain visible to that table's members for up to 30 days. If you delete your account, your personal data is deleted from our systems within 24 hours, except where we are legally required to retain it longer.

5. Your choices and rights

You can edit your profile information, disable push notifications, and delete your account entirely from the App's settings at any time. Depending on your country of residence, you may have additional rights to access, correct, or export your data — contact us to exercise them.

6. Children's privacy

Splyt is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures, including those provided by Firebase, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International data transfers

Your information may be processed and stored on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the United States, through our use of Firebase / Google Cloud infrastructure.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll post the current version on this page with the last-updated date. Continued use of Splyt after a change means you accept the updated policy.
